BSO Exclusive Coverage: Bridge School Benefit Acoustic Show #1; SET LIST ADDED!
SHOW IS DONE! SET LIST IS BELOW THE CUT!
Tonight we will be featuring live updates from No Doubt’s first of two acoustic for the Bridge School Benefit shows this evening in Mountain View, California. The show takes place at the Shoreline Amphitheater, and tickets are still available. These seem like once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to see the band play a full intricate acoustic set — not one electric instrument will be present on stage. Violins are being incorporated into the act, sounds like an amazing show. BSO will be having exclusive coverage being sent in from the event all night, not quite sure at this time when it will all kick off, but we will be ready. Videos, photos, audio, set list, and more will be coming this way soon! This post will be constantly updated all night, so keep it locked on BSO! We will also be updating our TWITTER with updates as they come along, make sure you follow us for the latest!

Gavin just hit the stage! Show has over 22,000 people there! He covered Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”No Doubt is rumored to hit the stage at 10:30 PM…
Thanks so much to Sabrina, there is NO merch for the band — just Bridge School merchandise is available, which makes sense, it’s not a No Doubt show.No Doubt will be hitting the stage at 10:35 PM and ending at 11:00… so they are playing for less than 30 minutes.
I came across a girl who apparently is in No Doubt’s violin quartet this evening, Paula Yoo to posted on her blog some intimate details about the rehearsals and how Gabe was actually the one who put together all the arrangements for the strings this weekend. She spills the beans that “Just A Girl” will be in the set tonight.
For the soundcheck, we ran through the whole set. It was a lot of fun. As we were testing the levels of each instrument, No Doubt members Gabriel McNair and Stephen Bradley played the Darth Vader theme from Star Wars on their horns (Gabriel on trombone, Stephen on trumpet). I also heard Stephen warming up on the trumpet before soundcheck as he ran his scales and arpeggios, and wow, he sounded amazing. Beautiful tone. Gabriel also wrote the gorgeous string arrangements for our quartet. What a pair of talented musicians! We also said hello again to bassist Tony Kanal, guitarist Tom Dumont, and drummer Adrian Young. And Gwen of course arrived dressed to kill in a pair of black and white checkered high heels. I had shoe envy! LOL!
On a personal note, when I watched NO DOUBT perform one of their most famous songs, “JUST A GIRL,” I had goosebumps. Why? I moved from Detroit to Los Angeles on November 5, 1995. I picked up my rental car from the airport and headed down the highway. When I arrived at my temporary digs in Marina Del Rey, I was gawking at all the palm trees when this song came on the radio. I had never heard of No Doubt back in 1995 because I wasn’t from California. I fell in love with the song – which turned out to be “Just a Girl.” It totally sounded like a Southern California song – and it put me in such a happy mood to have arrived in L.A. So seeing No Doubt perform this song during our soundcheck blew me away – I couldn’t believe that almost 14 years later, I would be playing with this band! It made me realize how lucky I am and I’m very grateful to be involved with such an important fundraiser for the amazing Bridge School.
The string quartet are dressed in black suits — cute!
No Doubt are next!
